I think handmade bread cloths (muslin or a soft canvas cloth) with either a small embroidery on the edge or one corner, or even a heavier cotton cloth with stripes or plaid in the bride's kitchen colors would be fun. Someone gave me some red and white plaid dish towels (not the fuzzy terry cloth things!) that are perfect! I line my baskets or bowls with them, or use them to cover warm baked goods. I've also used them for cooling cookies and rolls because the goodies don't stick to them. I added some little dragonfly appliqués and dressed them up...
A timely post. . . I wonder whether coconut oil with ylangylang and the book "Sheet Music" is too. . . risque. . .?
I go to the person's registry and get them something off of it within my price range. If there is nothing in my price range, then i'll get a gift card at said store. They can then use it toward something they do want.
I haven't done any graduation gifts yet.
I always give my favorite cookbook, although I sometimes wish I could get by spending less than $20. I just figure if they use it the benefit will be so great it will be worth it.
Urka, now that you mention it, someone gave me a hand-embroidered bread cloth for my wedding and I've used it a lot.
TG, I think it would depend on how close you were to the bride. I think that's a great idea for a close friend. I would have really appreciated that when I married.
Ruth, a gift card is really a good gift. I find that cash in any form never goes out of style!
Rebecca...I just got NT for Christmas but I haven't had time to really dig into it yet. Another great idea--I wouldn't have thought of that.

I've found a great wedding gift that I give almost every time. It is a recipe book to put your own recipes in. Hallmark has some darling ones. They aren't terribly expensive and everyone who cooks at all can use one.
