What's Your Personality?
One thing Billy and I had fun with when when we were getting to know each other was to figure out our personalities. We read Personality Plus by Florence Littauer, which was a blast because she is such a funny writer. The basic premise is that all people can be categorized in one of four major personalities, choleric, melancholy, sanguine, and phlegmatic. Here's a succinct chart. Better yet, read the Littauer book. It kept us in stitches, and we understood each other so much better after discussing it.
(For inquiring minds, I'm phlegmatic/melancholy--mostly phlegmatic--and Billy is choleric/melancholy--mostly choleric.)
By the way, the picture, from Allposters, has absolutely nothing to do with the post content. I just like old sewing machines.

I am fascinated by this kind of stuff! I have that book, but it's been a long time since I read it.
Just before I started blogging, though, I went through the DISC assessment three different times, with three different groups. As always, I came up Sanguine/Otter/I.
It was a bit uncomfortable when we had to announce it in one group and I was the only one. But worse than that, we had to announce our lowest two spiritual gifts scores. Mine? Shepherding and Evangelism.
I promptly decided I was not cut out to be an Awana leader. From now on, I'm a secretary, director, scorekeeper, and trainer. :)
I'm mostly sanguine with some melancholy. I have not done the test in years, but I think I would end up more melancholy if I did it now.
I find this kind of thing fascinating too. Spiritual gifts tests, anything that says rate yourself on a scale of 1-10, or whatever LOL. It's not only fun to see how I turn out, but to see how everyone else scores too.
On the topic of spiritual gifts, we've found that sometimes your level will increase over time as you grow in a particular area. Evengelism used to be one of Billy's lowest; with training and practice it's now one of his highest. Go figure.
Oops, make that evangelism.
