Sick Day

The kids have all had runny noses and stuffy heads for the past few days, and last night it deteriorated into chills (for some), sore throats, and coughs. Elizabeth has been up coughing since 3:30, so I kept them all home from church. I am tired too. E visited my room every 30 minutes to tell me she STILL couldn't go to sleep. Finally I put her to bed with a book. She read for hours I think, before she watched the sun come up. Right now they are all still in their pj's, wrapped in quilts, watching our favorite Jesus movies, The Visual Bible. (A side not--I highly recommend these. We call them the "happy Jesus" movies. I'm not a fan of most Jesus movies because He always looks like He's been sucking lemons. This is a great Jesus! And word for word from the Biblical text as well.) I am moving in slow motion, but I think this morning will hold a few loads of laundry and some craft organization. After Billy gets home and we eat lunch it is going to be nap time!

Praying for you and yours...I never like sick days, but most especially when they occur on a Sunday. I always feel like I've really missed connecting with the body...
Praying for health to be restored to all quickly!

Real possibilities for why you missed church.
(1) church skipper. (2)God is getting you for sin in your life (3)you didn't have enough faith to not be sick.

Growing up, we had a bunch of amazing nature pop-up books from National Geographic. My mom saved them for times we were sick and they were a real treat!

Show any signs of throwing up, though, and they were gone!

I hope you all get feeling better soon.

This is a terrible thing to admit, but I secretly like sick days. At least when I'm not the one sick and the sickness going around isn't horrible. The kids are quiet, they don't make any extra messes, and in between taking care of them I can get things done that would normally be put on the back burner.

Mrs. M. that's a good idea--special things just for sick days.

So Christina, I guess that simile makes sense?! :)

Jan, I do hate to see them sick but it was nice to have an unexpected free day to organize and do things I don't normally have time for!
