Story of Our Presidents

I thought I'd share this little treasure which I found at a used book sale for $1.25. The Story of Our Presidents covers Washington to Taft. Billy and I are always on the hunt for old history books which give a more accurate account of our nation's past than modern ones.

Its copyright is 1909.

Here's the title page. I love the colorful picture of Abraham Lincoln.

One day when Elizabeth was paging through it, she found these 8 identical handwritten tests tucked inside. Apparently it was used as a textbook. She was so excited. Ever since she saw an episode of "If Walls Could Talk" she has been fascinated by the idea of discovering old forgotten treasures.

The tests were written between WWI and WWII, as evidenced by the question, "Who was Pres. during 'World War'?"

WOW! What a find! We have found tests and book reports in some of the books we have from the 40's very fun, I have since then returned them to their owners here in town or family members. Is that what your are looking for... older history books, cause I know what I am sending you now with your bread tube. :)

Ummm...I do have pics, but I'm not sure if I have any digital ones. I will have to take some. Sadly, he's now chronically ill, so I need to get some in case he gets sick and doesn't come out of it one day. He is the best dog we've ever had. You are right, they can steal your heart.

Oh, Hannah's mom...Yes, I love old history books. I actually love any old books, and I find that a lot of old textbooks have really wonderful illustrations. Readers and science books, as well as history books, seem to have some of the best.

I love looking at antique books in antique stores. My daughter and I love to find "treasures"....

I always get sad when I find a Bible in an antique shop because I wish it could be with that person's family...but for whatever reason it was somehow seperated.

Good job exposing the kids to such a rich history.

GREAT book! I would love to find a handwritten test in an old book like that! Just think of the hands that used the book!
